5 Deadly Toxins in Food Packaging & Processing You Must Avoid
Researchers have identified chemicals in food packaging and processing that are harmful to humans; but they claim that it is not cause for concern for the general public.
The team of scientists call for a “population-based assessment and biomontioring” to figure out what other studies have proven unequivocally – that there are at least 5 chemicals (as outlined in this study) that previous reports have shown are dangerous to humans because of their constant exposure and cumulative concentrations.
According to a new study , food contact materials (FCMs) have “researchers concerned with human health, nutrition and the environment.”
FCMs are defined as “articles used in packaging, food storage, processing or preparation equipment that come directly into contact with human foods.”
These chemicals are “made of plastic or have a synthetic material in direct contact with the foodstuff—for example, as can coating, laminate in beverage cartons or the closures of glass jars.”
These substances “leach into the foods we eat” and cause harmful effects on humans through cumulative exposure over long periods of time.
These toxins include:
• Formaldehyde (found in soft drinks and tableware)
• Bisphenol A (BPA)
The researchers wrote: “Whereas the science for some of these substances is being debated and policy makers struggle to satisfy the needs of stakeholders, consumers remain exposed to these chemicals daily, mostly unknowingly.”

Most recently, phthalates, a banned toxin, is still present in Americans which could explain the strange upswing of diseases and conditions suffered by the general public.
Phthalates can be found in:

• Plastic products
• Building materials
According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), formaldehyde, a known carcinogen, is present in “pressed-wood products, cigarette smoke and fuel-burning substances”.
In previous studies, long-term or unusually high exposure to formaldehyde caused “certain types of cancer” such as:
• Myeloid leukemia
• Hematopoietic and lymphatic cancer
• Blood and/or bone marrow disorders
• Brain cancer
Cornell University (CU) explains that tributyltin, an additive to paint used to decrease the amount of barnacles and bacteria that collects on ship hulls, has made its way into the bodies of humans through “disinfectants, fungicidal wood preservatives, textile disinfectants, and stabilizers in PVC resin”; as well as “paper and pulp mills, cooling towers, breweries, textile mills and leather-processing facilities.”
Shockingly, tributyltin is found in abundance within most bodies of water.
Tributyltin is known to cause:
• Eye irritation
• Breathing problems
• Loss of coordination
• Infertility and reproductive issues
• Liver and kidney damage/failure
Triclosans are pesticides that function as antimicrobial agents, and can be found in certain over-the-counter drugs, antibacterial soaps and toothpastes.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns that triclosans are found in residential areas, public access locations, commercial and industrial facilities and institutional properties. Triclosans have been proven to cause endocrine disruption; developmental and reproductive retardation; toxicity through chronic exposure; cancer.
